Summer was warmest in 20 years

Ireland has had its warmest, driest and sunniest summer since 1995, with August being the third successive summer month with less rainfall than normal.

Met Éireann today revealed just 34mm of rain was recorded at Belmullet, just over a third of its normal reading for August.
