€100,000 to be spent on Traveller work placement scheme

The Government has announced plans to spend €100,000 on a work experience initiative for Travellers this year.

The figure represents an increase of €40,000 on the amount spent last year on the Community Development Programme Traveller Placement Scheme.

The project provides work experience in the areas such as reception and administrative duties, traveller education, outreach and youth work.

It is funded by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
