Gardaí say motive for Dublin murder unclear
Gardaí say they have not established a motive for the killing of a 22-year-old man in Dublin's south inner city this morning.
The 22-year-old man was shot dead on Cameron Street near St James' Hospital at around 1am today.
A second man in his early 20s was injured in the incident, and is being treated at St James'.
A murder investigation has been launched and two people have been arrested.
A technical examination is underway at the scene and a post mortem will be carried out this afternoon.
Superintendent Thady Muldoon has appealed to the public for information.
“We have no idea what the motive was for this very, very serious and callous crime,” he said today.
He added: “There is no indication at the moment of what the motive was. Two people were detained in the vicinity and are being detained under the provisions of the Offences Against The State Act and are helping us with our inquiries.”
