Toddler critically injured in crash

A young boy who was seriously injured in an accident in Co Offaly yesterday afternoon is said to be in a critical condition in hospital this morning.

The three-year-old and his mother, who was also injured, were both struck by a truck on the Arden road in Tullamore just after 4pm.

The woman is being treated at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore for injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening, while her son was transferred to Crumlin hospital last night.
