Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting of an English father-of-two in Co Cork have released a woman quizzed in connection with the death.

The 37-year-old woman, who was arrested at the scene, was released from Kanturk Garda Station shortly after 11.30pm last night.

She was being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act, 1939.

Superintendent Tom Duggan said the probe is ongoing and a file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 42-year-old victim was named as Charles Wrench, who had been living in Dromsicane, Millstreet, for 18 years.

He was found shot dead at his home on Monday night.

The results of the post-mortem examination are not being disclosed yet for operational reasons, gardaí said.
