Irish woman leaves €5.5m to Edinburgh Festival
An Irish woman has left over €5.5m to the Edinburgh International Festival in her will.
72-year-old Lean Scully, who lived in Dublin, travelled to the festival every year for the last decade, and had promised staff that she would “see you right when I’m gone".
It is the single biggest gift in the festival’s 60-year history.
The money came from the sale of two houses in Dublin.
The money will be invested in a trust that will yield over €220,000-a-year in interest for promoting the careers of young artists.
