Four held after shotgun incident at Cork bar
Gardaí in Cork have arrested four men in their 20s following an incident in which a shotgun was produced in a bar in Ballincollig.
No shots were fired during the incident, which happened at around 8.30pm last night.
An altercation broke out when two members of a gang carrying the shotgun approached the lone patron of the bar.
The pair later fled the scene with their accomplices in a waiting car, but all four were arrested a short distance away.
Supt Tom Hayes, speaking to the Evening Echo newspaper said: “They pursued the car for more than two kilometres. The gardaí called for backup and when they reached the Poulavone Roundabout, another garda car was waiting there to give them assistance.”
Two loaded shotguns were also recovered. Supt Hayes said gardaí are working to establish the motive for the incident.
