Young man arrested in Sheola investigation
Gardaí in Co Cork have arrested a man in his early 20s in connection with the murder of Cobh woman Sheola Keaney.
The man was arrested in Cobh just before 7am and can be held for an initial period of six hours, with the possibility of a further six, before he must be charged or released.
Ms Keaney's body was found in undergrowth near the Pirates rugby club on Sunday following a two-day search.
The 19-year-old had been reported missing when she failed to turn up for work on Friday. A post mortem has revealed that she was beaten and strangled to death.
At her funeral mass yesterday, the Bishop of Cloyne called for her killer to come forward and face the consequences of the "heinous crime".
More than 1,000 mourners attended the funeral of the popular young woman, with friends describing her as "one of a kind".
