Dublin docklands and Point Depot to get major facelift

Minister for the Environment Dick Roche has given the go-ahead to a major new development for the Dublin docklands.

The project includes the construction of two 35 storey towers north and south of the mouth of the river Liffey.

The Point Depot is to be transformed it into a 15 thousand-seater arena while the U2 tower, where the band has its recording studio, will increase in height by 100 metres.

The Luas line will also be extended to terminate in the Point Village area.

A major retail development in the area has also been given the green light.
