Teen dies in Tipperary crash
A man in his late teens has died after crashing his car into a wall in Co Tipperary this morning.
The accident happened at Lanes Park in the Ballynunty area of Thurles at around 5.30am.
The victim is the 200th person to die on Ireland's roads this year, an increase of 20 on the figure for the same period last year.
The death toll is causing concern about the failure of several initiatives to reduce road accidents.
"It's a very grim statistic and basically what it's telling us is that we're making no progress," AA spokesman Conor Faughnan said today.
"It's an indictment of Ireland not getting to grips with its road safety problem."
