Firefighters battle blaze on ‘Slab’ Murphy’s farm
Firefighters were called to a blaze on a farm owned by top republican Thomas ``Slab'' Murphy on the border today.
Crews were alerted after flames and smoke were spotted on the Republic side of his property.
Murphy, an alleged one-time member of the IRA's ruling council, owns the farm at Hackballscross, south Armagh, straddling the border.
Police in the North confirmed their officers on the northern side had been called out to help clear debris on the road.
