Gardaí in Dublin say they do not believe the latest fatal shooting in the north of the city was connected to five previous shootings in the area in the past six months.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from the Darndale area, was shot a number of times outside his girlfriend's apartment at Grattan Wood in Donaghmede early this morning.

Gardaí say the dead man was known to them, but they are not speculating on the motive for his murder.
