McDowell to meet gardaí on reserve force today

The Minister for Justice Michael McDowell will meet garda representatives today to discuss the controversial proposed reserve.

The Garda Representative Association is rejecting the new body.

Earlier this week, Minister McDowell outlined his plans to the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party.

He said that the reserve will not be a substitute for increasing the strength of the Gardaí, and that he will be flexible on issues such as uniforms.
