O’Toole resigns to become head of Garda Inspectorate
Boston police commissioner Kathleen O'Toole has resigned after two years in the job to become head of the new Garda Inspectorate.
The 52-year-old announced her resignation yesterday after being linked with the position over the weekend.
Her appointment is expected to be approved by the Cabinet next week.
Ms O'Toole was part of the international commission that drew up the Patten Report on policing reform in the North.
She also has a daughter studying at NUI in Galway.
