86 arrested for drink-driving

Mid-way through the bank holiday weekend, gardaí are renewing their appeal to motorists not to drink and drive after 86 people were arrested yesterday on suspicion of drink-driving.

Mid-way through the bank holiday weekend, gardaí are renewing their appeal to motorists not to drink and drive after 86 people were arrested yesterday on suspicion of drink-driving.

The arrests brought the total number of people detained on Saturdays during the month of April to almost 400.

Saturdays and Sundays account for almost 50% of all roads deaths.

John Farrelly, of the Garda Traffic Bureau, said that it seems people are not valuing their lives enough.
