Police appealed for witnesses today after a group of around 25 people staged a street battle in Derry.

Police appealed for witnesses today after a group of around 25 people staged a street battle in Derry.

One person was taken to hospital with head injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening, after the row on the Glendermot Road.

The PSNI at Foyle said the crowd of around 25 people were fighting and throwing stones and missiles at each other on the road around 2.15am.

Officers said the crowd dispersed when police arrived.

One man was arrested for public order offences.

Officers appealed for anyone who saw the disturbance or who had any information about it to contact them at Foyle station.
