Rookie TD McEntee new FG spokesman on road safety

Fine Gael has appointed Meath TD Shane McEntee to press home its message on road safety.

Mr McEntee has been given the role of deputy transport spokesman with sole responsibility for promoting Fine Gael policy on road safety.

The move will be seen as an attempt to boost the TD's profile ahead of the next general election.

Mr McEntee has only been in the Dáil for just over a year after winning last year's by-election in Meath.
