Woman held in connection with £26m bank raid
A 40-year-old woman was arrested for questioning today by detectives investigating the £26m (€37.2m) Northern Bank robbery.
The woman was detained in the Coalisland area of Co Tyrone in the North and taken to the serious crime suite in Antrim, said police.
Three people have previously been charged in connection with the robbery, including a member of the bank staff.
The IRA has been accused of carrying out the raid on the Northern Bank’s headquarters in Belfast’s Donegall Square days before Christmas 2004.
Those awaiting trial are on bail, including Northern Bank employee Chris Ward, 24, who insisted he was a victim of the robbery gang rather than a part of it.
