Disappointment for Daly at Clare convention

Senator Brendan Daly has failed to secure a Fianna Fáil nomination to stand for the Clare constituency in the General Election.

The former fisheries minister was defeated at a hotly-contested convention last night.

Senator Timmy Dooley from Mountshannon topped the poll among the county’s 144 branches with Minister of State Tony Killeen in second place.
