Man killed in Clonmel shooting
A murder inquiry was under way today after one man was shot dead and another seriously wounded in a gun attack at a house party near Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
Gardaí said a gunman arrived at the house in Kilganey shortly after midnight, singled out his victim and shot him once.
A struggle ensued and a second man was shot.
Gardaí said when they arrived at the house they found a 25-year-old man dead and another man in his 30s had been shot in the arm. The injured man was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital.
Around a dozen people were in the house when the attack took place and detectives were today searching for two men in connection with the shooting.
The Garda Technical Bureau and State Pathologist Marie Cassidy were called to the scene.
The house was cordoned off and forensic teams were beginning a detailed examination of the house and surrounding area.
An incident room was set up at Clonmel Garda Station and detectives urged anyone with information to contact them on 052-77649.
