Knock Airport launched its new route to Durham Tees Valley Airport today with members of the Connacht Rugby squad taking off to play their European Challenge Cup match against the Newcastle Falcons.

The new route, which will operate four times weekly, is being operated by low-fares airline bmibaby.

It will provide holidaymakers and businesses in the west and north west of Ireland with the first direct access to the north east area of England as no other airline currently flies to this region from the west coast.
