Gardaí name man whose body was found in burnt-out car

The man whose body was found in the back of a stolen car found burnt out in Galway on Monday was named this afternoon as local man Joe Sweeney from Bohermore.

The man whose body was found in the back of a stolen car found burnt out in Galway on Monday was named this afternoon as local man Joe Sweeney from Bohermore.

An investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Meanwhile, two men from Ballybane who presented themselves to gardaí yesterday today appeared in court in connection with the theft of the car.

26-year-old Tom McDonagh was remanded in custody after being charged with burglary, stealing a car and leaving the scene of an accident.

23-year-old Tom Sweeney was granted bail after being charged with allowing himself to be carried in a stolen car. Both are due in court again next week.
