Inquest into garda crash death to resume later today
An inquest into the death of an elderly woman who was struck by a garda car in Dublin last year is due to resume later today.
Seventy-four-year-old Mary Seavers, from the Goatstown area of the city, died in hospital three weeks after being struck by the patrol car at a bus stop in Clonskeagh last May.
Yesterday, the inquest into her death heard that the thread depth on one of the tyres on the car was well below recommended limits, but the road condition and wet weather were also cited as causes of the crash.
A garda investigation had previously concluded that speed was the reason the car went out of control.
The garda who was driving the vehicle is due to give evidence to the inquest today, while a summary of the post mortem report will also be delivered.
