Elderly man dies in Kilkenny house fire

A pensioner in his early 70s died today in a house fire in Co Kilkenny.

Gardaí launched an investigation after the blaze broke out at the home in Mullinavat this morning.

A Garda spokesman said the fire was discovered in the house on the town’s Main Street this morning shortly after 4.30am.

“The body has been removed to Waterford Regional Hospital for a post mortem. A technical examination of the scene is due to take place today,” he added.
