Holohan killer seeks court transcript
The 21-year-old convicted of the manslaughter of schoolboy Robert Holohan is seeking the official transcript of his controversial sentencing hearing, it emerged tonight.
Wayne O’Donoghue, from Ballyedmond, Midleton, Co Cork, was sentenced to four years imprisonment at the Central Criminal Court in Ennis in January but there was pandemonium in the packed courtroom when Robert’s mother Majella questioned why evidence of semen discovered on her son’s body had not been presented at the trial.
The Director of Public Prosecutions is appealing the leniency of the sentence handed down by Judge Paul Carney.
At the Central Criminal Court in Dublin, senior counsel Blaise O’Carroll, representing O’Donoghue asked Judge Carney for the official transcript of the hearing.
“It would be very helpful to us if we had the actual transcript of the sentencing hearing,” he said.
Judge Carney granted the request.
