Longford councillors seek ways to address C&D job losses

Longford County Council is due to hold a special meeting today to discuss ways to alleviate the effects of the recent job losses at the C&D Foods factory.

More than 280 workers have lost their jobs as a result of the massive fire that almost destroyed the Edgeworthstown plant in January.

Representatives from Enterprise Ireland, FAS and the IDA are all due to attend today’s meeting.

They will be hoping to put a plan in place to address the job losses and the knock-on effects they are having on the local economy.
