Local politicians blamed for Traveller accommodation crisis

The Pavee Point group has called for the issue of Traveller accommodation to be taken out of the hands of local authorities.

Government figures due out this month are expected to show that around 2,000 Traveller families are still waiting to be given homes by local councils throughout the country, despite being promised them under legislation introduced eight years ago.
