Three held in relation to builder's murder
Two women and a man were being questioned today about the murder of a builder in Co Fermanagh.
Stephen Robinson, 39, was stabbed to death at his home on Cullaghmore Road, Irvinestown. Police were called just before 3.30am.
It is believed a row flared after a party in the area.
Mr Robinson, who was separated from his wife, had lived at the address for several years.
Friends revealed the victim’s family has had a troubled past. One brother, Derek Robinson, 50, is a former RUC inspector who was jailed for corruption. He was convicted in 2001 after a major undercover sting operation in the mid 1990s. Robinson, who had a sideline as a car dealer, admitted a string of offences, including clocking car mileages, obtaining property by deception and perverting the course of justice.
Another brother, Leslie, was killed in a car crash just outside Irvinestown a number of years ago.
“They have had their problems,” a neighbour said. “Stephen was well known and didn’t seem to have any enemies. He had his own business, although he may have worked for someone more recently.”
Detectives, who are treating the murder as domestic, arrested a couple after the attack. They later held another woman.
A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said no one else was being sought in connection with the investigation.
