Husband comforted after wife and sons are found dead

A man was being comforted by relatives tonight after the bodies of his wife and two young boys were found in their Dublin home.

Neighbours of Mary and Brian Keegan and their two sons Glen, 10, and Andrew shortly due to turn seven, spoke of their shock at the deaths of the well liked family.

Friends of the couple said Brian, whose van was parked just outside the white garda crime tape sealing off their two-storey home, had just returned from a work trip in the US.

Superintendent Declan Coburn of Tallaght Garda Station said gardaí had to force entry to the home after they were alerted at around 11.30am.

Gardai said they were still treating the deaths as suspicious but could not yet reveal how the woman and two children had died.

Asked was there anybody helping gardai with their inquiries Superintendent Coburn said: “No, not at this stage, as I said the investigation has just commenced.”

The superintendent said gardai were not yet looking for anyone in relation to the deaths but he did not rule out that they may be seeking someone in the future.
