The Labour leader Pat Rabbitte is rubbishing suggestions by the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern that his party and Fianna Fáil could end up in coalition after the next general election.

In an interview published today, Mr Ahern appealed to trade unions to keep that option open come polling day.
