Schizophrenic youth released due to lack of hospital places

A paranoid schizophrenic youth, who has been held in custody for the last year pending efforts to source a suitable hospital placement, was released home today.

However, the Dublin Children’s Court was told that it may still take three more months before the teen can be admitted to an appropriate mental health care hospital.
