Govt planning to double number of medical training places

The Government has announced plans to double the number of college places for medical students as part of a €200m reform of medical education.

Health Minister Mary Harney and Education Minister Mary Hanafin said the number of places available to Irish and EU students would be increased from 305 to 725 over the next four years as part of the initiative.
