Govt under fresh fire over child abuse indemnity deal

The Government is facing renewed criticism from the opposition today following a further increase in the estimated cost of compensating abuse victims under the Residential Institutions Redress Scheme.

The scheme was set up to decide on compensation for children who were abused by members of religious orders in state institutions like industrial schools.
