Consultants to begin negotiations on new contracts

Hospital consultants are due to begin negotiations with the Government and the Health Service Executive (HSE) today on proposed reform of their working arrangements.

The Department of Health and the HSE want the doctors to agree to new contracts that would only allow them to treat public patients.
