Dept launches investigation into Carlow bird deaths
An investigation has been launched into the death of hundreds of birds in Carlow.
Locals witnessed at least 200 birds dropped from the sky last Sunday onto the town's main shopping street.
It’s understood the pigeons and sparrows were poisoned by a substance used on farms to control mice and magpies.
The Department of the Environment plans to send in a wildlife officer to uncover what happened.
