Irish peacekeepers on standby for Sierra Leone mission

Irish soldiers based in Liberia are reportedly on standby for a possible UN peacekeeping mission to neighbouring Sierra Leone.

Reports this morning said the Irish army had completed an assessment of the situation in the country and was now waiting for the go-ahead from United Nations headquarters in New York.
