Number of suicides down in first half of 2005

The number of deaths officially recorded as suicides reportedly fell slightly in the first six months of last year compared to the same period over the past two years.

Reports this morning said 166 deaths were recorded as suicide between January and June 2005, compared to 194 in the first six months of 2004 and 182 in the first half of 2003.
