The Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern has said that the Irish and British governments are embarking on a concerted effort to end direct rule and re-establish the Northern Ireland Assembly this year.

In a statement this evening on the North, Minister Ahern said that he will be stepping up contacts with all parties in the coming weeks.
