Two killed in road accidents in Sligo and Cork

Two people have been killed in separate road accidents in counties Cork and Sligo.

A 28-year-old man died shortly after 3am this morning when the car which he was driving went off the road at Ballyhadeen, near Castletownroche in Cork.

His body was taken to Cork University Hospital.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Co Sligo are investigating an accident in which a 55-year-old woman was fatally injured.

The woman, a pedestrian, was struck by a car at Cashel, near Tubbercurry at 10.30am on Christmas Eve.

She was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where she later died from her injuries.
