Two killed in Down crash
Northern Ireland’s roads claimed two more lives today after two cars collided outside Newtownards, Co Down.
The death toll on the North’s roads over the past three days rose to five people following the crash, which happened at around 10.15pm last night on the Kempestones Road.
A 25-year-old passenger in one of the cars died shortly after the accident.
The driver of the car died in hospital today.
Another passenger and a woman driving the other vehicle suffered injuries but they were not believed to be life-threatening.
The victims’ identities have not yet been revealed by police, who today appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
On Sunday, a 22-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were killed in a horrific car crash on Belfast’s Falls Road.
Three people were in a critical condition following a collision involving a car and a taxi.
Five other people were also injured in the accident.
In another crash, on the Shane’s Hill Road in Larne on Sunday, 82-year-old Robert Strahan, from Killyglen Road, was killed.
