Budget expected to include major package on childcare

Finance Minister Brian Cowen is expected to announce a major funding boost for childcare when he presents his Budget for 2006 today.

Mr Cowen has a surplus of almost €2bn to play with in his budget and the Government has already signalled that childcare will be one of the main beneficiaries.
