Skipper still missing after Wexford fishing boat tragedy

A fisherman has died and another is still missing this morning following the sinking of their vessel off the Wexford coast last night.

A third crew member survived the sinking after he spent more than four hours in the water near the Saltee Islands before being rescued last night.

A sea-and-air search was launched last night when the 26ft Rising Sun failed to return to port after embarking to collect lobster pots.

The boat is believed to have capsized at around 7.30pm yesterday, but no distress signal or mayday call was sent out.

Another fishing vessel located two of the three crew members in the water near the Saltee Islands, but one of them died a number of hours after being brought ashore.

The skipper is still missing.

Rescuers are due to resume the search for him at first light this morning.
