The former Secretary General of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, Peter Cassells, has been appointed as mediator in the Corrib Gas project dispute.

The former Secretary General of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, Peter Cassells, has been appointed as mediator in the Corrib Gas project dispute.

The Minister for Communications, Marine & Natural Resources, Noel Dempsey said: "Peter Cassells is a very well respected figure in mediation and industrial relations in Ireland.

"I would like to thank him for agreeing to take on this task and assure him that he will have every co-operation and assistance from me and my Department."
