Minister meets with Shell to discuss Corrib pipeline
Minister Noel Dempsey met with Shell chiefs today to discuss dismantling part of the Corrib gas pipeline.
Shell was ordered to dismantle a section of the pipeline three months ago as it had been welded illegally.
Work began on the dismantling this week, but a local development group called for it to be stopped. The Pro-Erris Gas Group said the pipeline should remain intact, pending results of a safety review.
Minister Dempsey and Shell will now seek legal advice on the issue before taking further action.
