High Court president will not investigate colleague

The President of the High Court has said he's not embarking on an inquiry into the conduct of a judge and a solicitor after a row at the district court on Saturday.

Mr Justice Finnegan blamed media coverage for misleading people and said he's engaged in an inquiry only into the unlawful detention of two clients of solicitor Yvonne Bambury.

It follows a walkout by eight solicitors from the Bridewell District Court in protest over the treatment of Ms Bambury in the court on Saturday morning.

She was ordered to be removed from court 44 by Judge Patrick Brady when she queried his recommendation for custody at a bail application for two of her clients.

One of the men has been released on bail - the other is due before the High Court this afternoon.
