IRA didn’t hold back guns for defensive purposes - Ahern

The Taoiseach has dismissed weekend reports that the IRA kept a batch of guns for defence purposes.

A leading sunday newspaper claimed that the provisional movement retained around 300 guns and failed to decommission every single item in it's arsenal.

Bertie Ahern told the Dáil that as far as he was concerned, all IRA weapons had been put beyond use.
