Gardaí in Dublin are holding three people this morning following a drugs raid in which members of the force were threatened with a handgun
The Gardaí said they were preparing to raid a house in the Greenfort Crescent area of Clondalkin when they were confronted by an armed man who arrived at the scene in the car.
When the officers identified themselves as armed, the man fled the scene, but was pursued and threatened Gardaí again before eventually being overpowered.
A loaded handgun was recovered at the scene and a 32-year-old man was arrested.
A 30-year-old woman was also arrested during a follow-up operation, while an 18-year-old man was detained when Gardaí eventually raided the house and found €6,000 worth of heroin along with a quantity of cash.
