FG motion seeks support for Joseph Rafferty campaign
The Seanad is due to debate a Fine Gael motion tonight supporting a campaign for justice by the family of a Dublin man shot dead earlier this year.
Twenty-eight-year-old Joseph Rafferty was shot dead outside his apartment in west Dublin in April, apparently as a result of a dispute between two families in the area.
His family has claimed that the man who carried out the shooting was an IRA member who is also active in Sinn Féin, but the republican movement has denied the claim.
Tonight's Fine Gael motion calls on the Government to raise the matter in all future meetings with Sinn Féin.
It also calls on Sinn Féin to co-operate with the garda investigation into the murder and to "hand up" those allegedly responsible.
