The state body that promotes Ireland as a tourist destination has said it hopes to increase annual visitor numbers to more than nine million by 2007.

Last year, just over 6.5 million overseas visits to Ireland were undertaken and the figures for the first half of this year were up by around 120,000 on the same period last year.
