Irish speakers in Cork are to receive around €170,000 in grants to upgrade roads to their houses.

The ten grants, which range from €5,500 to nearly €34,000, will be used to improve poor quality roads in the Cork Gaeltacht.

Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Éamon Ó Cuív said the work would be carried out by Cork County Council.

“Improving economic, social and physical conditions in rural and Gaeltacht areas remains a priority for the Government and these grants are a significant step towards achieving that aim,” he said.
